With the current blame-game and mud-slinging amongst celebrities, the debate on existence of ‘Bollywood Mafia’ in the industry has been making headlines. Fed up with this term, director Anubhav Sinha, who is known for his honest opinions, has finally resigned from ‘Bollywood’ on Twitter. The filmmaker took to social media on Tuesday and wrote, “Enough!!! I hereby resign from Bollywood…” He even changed his profile name on Twitter from Anubhav Sinha to Anubhav Sinha (Not Bollywood). The filmmaker said he would like to call it the Hindi film industry.
After Anubhav’s post, Sudhir Mishra also slammed the term ‘Bollywood’ and wrote, “What’s Bollywood? I came to be a part of cinema inspired by Satyajit Ray, Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt, Ritwick Ghatak, Bimal Roy, Mrinal Sen, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, K Asif, Vijay Anand, Javed Akhtar,Tapan Sinha, Gulzar, Shekhar Kapur, Ketan Mehta, Bharatan and Aravindan etc. That’s where I’ll always be… let’s go towards Indian cinema, Indian storytelling.”
Hansal Mehta also joined Anubhav Sinha and said he had quit Bollywood. He wrote that such a word never existed in the first place!
