Bold & thoughtful Madhurima Roy
How has been the journey for you so far?
It has been quite interesting. I started with selling insurance plans from door to door, then worked in an audit firm and later in a PR company. There I got an opportunity to audition for a travel show. Luckily, I got selected and that changed my path. I became a part of the reality show called India’s Next Top Model and then, there was no looking back.
You have done web series with bold content. What’s your take?
While agreeing to do a web series, I look out for parameters like the production house, the actors and also my character. I will never do a bold scene or use abusive language just for the sake of it. It should have valid reasons.
Tell us about your upcoming series Mumbhai.
I have worked with Balaji Telefilms in Code M, directed by Akshay Choubey. So, Akshay and Samar Khan recommended me for Mumbhai.
How has been the lockdown period for you?
If you ask me I have quite enjoyed the lockdown. I was alone in Mumbai when the lockdown started and afterwards I went to my hometown Kolkata and now I am again back to Mumbai. During the lockdown phase I learnt an advance course of yoga and watched so many international films. I learnt to cook.
What’s your take on resuming work?
Initially I was apprehensive, because as an actor in front of the camera you can’t wear a mask and at times, you cannot maintain social distancing. But I am also enthusiastic to resume work. I just want to work with appropriate precautions.
What is your take on the ongoing debate of insider-outsider and nepotism?
When I worked in corporate agencies I had seen favouritism. If you have the talent you will go far and people will back you. You have to stand-up for yourself.
What’s your style mantra?
It’s very casual. I would say I have a boho style. It has to be comfortable. I am not at all a loud person.
