Birbal is wise and has come to Vijayanagar to challenge Rama. When two wise minds clash, it is always fun to watch. It is a war of wit and that is what the viewers are going to enjoy.

How was the atmosphere on the sets? Were you apprehensive about shooting in these challenging times?

Everyone is well taken care of on the sets as all the safety measures are in place. There are multiple levels of sanitization, right from the entry point to the make-up room. The dress and makeup people are always wearing PPE kits.

What preparations did you do for the role of Birbal?

I allowed my intuition to guide me. For a show like Tenali Rama, which is set in a particular era, you are supposed to have a good command over the language, especially Hindi. Since I have previously done Hindi theatre, I am used to such proper Hindi.

What was the one lesson you learnt from playing Birbal?

The lesson that wars should be avoided at any cost! Proper communication can help avoid many wars and fights. The show gives out the message of living in harmony.

How have you evolved as an artiste?

I feel an artiste is always evolving. With every new character that you play, a new project that you do, you learn something new. You become better. As an artiste, I am always ready to learn and explore new things.

A role that you would say no to?

I believe as an actor it is important to explore every role. An actor should never say never.
