Laxmmi Bomb – Disney+ Hotstar
Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited Laxmmi Bomb is a horror comedy directed by Raghava Lawrence. It revolves around a man possessed by the ghost of a transgender. The film was supposed to hit the theatres on May 22. It will now have a digital release on Disney+ Hotstar.
Gulabo Sitabo – Amazon Prime Video
Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, the family comedy drama Gulabo Sitabo was expected to release in April 2020. However, given the current situation, the film’s release was delayed. The movie is now headed for a digital release and the rights have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video.
Gunjan Saxena – Netflix
Gunjan Sexena: The Kargil Girl, starring Janhvi Kapoor, which was scheduled to release on March 20, will reportedly have a web release on Netflix. The film is a biopic based on Indian Air Force fighter pilot, Gunjan Saxena, the first woman combat aviator who entered the war zone of Kargil in 1999. It also stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Angad Bedi, Pankaj Tripathi and Manav Vij.
Shakuntala Devi – Amazon Prime Video
Vidya Balan-starrer Shakuntala Devi will also release on digital media. The makers are looking to release the film on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Anu Menon, Shakuntala Devi is based on the life of mathematics’ genius Shakuntala Devi. Besides Vidya, Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh will also feature in the film.
Shershaah – Netflix
Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, Shershaah is a biopic based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra. The film was expected to release on July 3 this year. However, given the uncertainty around re-opening of movie theatres, the makers are now, reportedly, negotiating with Netflix for an OTT release.
Jhund – Amazon Prime Video
Jhund, directed by Nagraj Manjule, is a sports movie based on the life of Vijay Barse, a retired sports teacher who founded an NGO called Slum Soccer. He managed to rehabilitate street kids by keeping them off drugs and crime by turning them into soccer players and building a whole team. Amitabh Bachchan plays the lead role in the film. The movie will have a digital release on Amazon Prime Video.
Ludo – Amazon Prime Video
Directed by Anurag Basu, Ludo is a dark comedy anthology, which has four different stories set in a quintessential Indian metro. The film was slated to hit the silver screen on April 24, 2020, but will release on Amazon Prime now. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, among others.
Ghumketu – ZEE5
Ghoomketu, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, Raghubir Yadav, Swanand Kirkire and Ragini Khanna, is set for a digital premiere on May 22 on Zee5. The film is a comedy drama based on an inexperienced writer, played by Nawazuddin, struggling to make it big in the film industry in Mumbai. It also features Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Chitrangada Singh, Lauren Gottlieb and filmmaker Nikkhil Advani in special appearances.
