The shedding of dead skin cells and formation of new ones is a constant process. A healthy skin renews itself totally in about 28 days. In fact, the shedding of dead cells encourages the birth of new ones. It is the same with the scalp. Both the skin and scalp need exfoliation, because it speeds up the renewal of new cells.

Scrubs and grains

Exfoliation of scalp can be done with scrubs and cleansing grains. The grainy substances that make up scrubs are rubbed gently on the scalp and then washed off. The scalp benefits from exfoliation, as it keeps the pores free of clogged oil and cleanses the pores of the scalp. After using the scrub, it must be washed off with plenty of water, so that all residues are removed.

Clogged pores on head

Most people are concerned about clogged and enlarged pores on the face, as they are visible. But, they don’t worry about clogged pores on the scalp, probably because they cannot be seen. The scalp is rich in oil glands and the pores can get clogged and blocked with hardened oil. This can lead to an unhealthy scalp and dandruff. The distribution of natural oil is also hampered. The result is that the hair becomes dry and dull, while the scalp is oily. Therefore, like the skin, the scalp also needs to be exfoliated and cleansed.
