A Friendship Day sans friends...year 2020 presents a unique situation. Celebs of the tinsel town speak of their special bonds and how they are going to spend the first Sunday of August that celebrates the spirit of friendship.
Picnic with social distancing
This Friendship Day, a few of us close buddies are planning to meet. Getting our own food from home, we are hoping to have a socially-distanced picnic. My most special friend is Sadhna. She knows me inside out. — Akshay Kelkar
In touch via technology
During the lockdown, I tried to catch up with all my friends. I consider my friends to be the biggest blessing in my life. On this special day, I plan to be with my special friends through video calls. — Aasiya Kazi
Power to the Gucci gang
I will be celebrating Friendship’s Day on the sets of Kumkum Bhagya with my Gucci gang. I, Sriti Jha, Krishna Kaul, Aparna Mishra and Zeeshan Khan call ourselves the Gucci gang. On Friendship’s Day I want to thank them for being there. — Mugdha Chapekar
All hail the crazy
I want to tell all my friends that it’s easy to meet people who are crazy, but to stay with them and adapt to their craziness is a different level of friendship. I remember, once I landed at a friend’s place in Punjab without informing and from there, we had a crazy unplanned trip to Himachal. I am a person who plans everything, but this unplanned trip was the best trip ever. — Ruhi Chaturvedi
To have a best friend in family
It is said that a mother is the first friend of a child. I will tie a friendship band to my son. I had returned from Indore to Mumbai alone because I wanted my son to be safe. Now that my husband and son will be joining me, Friendship Day will be full on fun. — Paridhi Sharma
Example from mythology
Our show RadhaKrishn’s new chapter Krishn Arjun Gatha that focuses on the friendship between Krishn and Arjun is in itself an example. I feel friendship is the cement that binds the world together and it would be my absolute honour to be able to celebrate this day with my close friends on the sets. — Kinshuk Vaidya
The filmy friendship
I met Akansha in college during my Delhi University days. We changed cities, but we made sure that we stayed connected. When I moved to Mumbai, she too moved to Mumbai because of me. That’s the kind of bond we share. After she moved back to Delhi, I make sure to visit her on her birthday. The kind of friendship one sees in films is exactly how my bond with Akansha is. My only plan this year is to do a video call to Akansha Srivastava. For now, we will have to stick to virtual friendship. — Aparna Dixit
Sweet memory of distant friends!
My best friend Gaurav Saxena is in Uganda. I feel sad that we cannot be together. He messaged me, “Sweet is the memory of distant friends! Like the mellow rays of the departing sun, it falls tenderly, yet sadly, on the heart”. He has sent me love and good wishes for Friendship Day. — Dhruvee Haldankar
Friendship Day everyday
My friends used to come home and we would step out for coffee. I miss doing stuff like that. My best friend is Shanela. She is in London. Despite the time difference, we speak every single day. — Urvashi Dholkia
An early celebration
Aashka Goradia and I bond very well. She is an extremely positive soul who brings up the best in me. During this lockdown, I was quarantined with her so we had a fabulous three months. — Tinaa Dutta
Hey, it’s 25 years
It’s been almost five months of lockdown now and I miss meeting my friends badly. My best friend is Jasmeet Singh Narang and we have known each other for over 25 years. At many critical junctions of my life, he has supported me unconditionally — Amit Sarin
