A lockdown does not mean that we have to sit idle at home and get bored. Life is a continuous learning process. It needs to be continued and webinars have come to the rescue during these crucial times. Students are attending webinars. Even professionals from various fields like engineers, doctors,and those in the glamour world too are busy with webinars. So, with the help of technology, the learning process is continuing during the lockdown period.
Doctors on call
Doctors and various associations are organising webinars as all major conferences around the world and India have been cancelled.
Dr Harpreet Gill, head of orthopaedics and joint replacement at SPS Hospital, Ludhiana, who has attendedmany webinars, says that it is a great opportunity for delegates to learn about the latest developments in their field while sitting at home.
“They can interact with the experts, ask them questions and clear their doubts. All one needs is a laptop and internet connection.The meeting programmes are emailed to the participants,” says Dr Gill. Dr IPS Oberoi from Delhi and Dr SS Mohanty from Mumbai, who have organised webinars, say, “It is a great learning experience for the younger generation of doctors. They can learn from the leading experts.”
Lessons for all
Seeing an opportunity in anydifficult situation is what Bandana Sethi, principal, BVM School Udham Singh Nagar, believes in.
“Webinars have come to the rescue of both teachers and students during the period of lockdown.While teachers have been upgrading their knowledge by attending webinars organised by the CBSE, students are taught their lessons through such webinars,” said Sethi.
Fashion too goes high-tech
A fashionista needs to keep a constant tab on the latest trends. Going live on Instagram is a way through which the fashion gurus are staying connected with their clients and followers. This lockdown period has also led to many beauty and fashioncollaborations to attract more viewers.
Ludhiana-based fashion designer TanuVohrarecently moderated a hair styling session with an expert, which was quite a hit.
Bitten by travel bug?
And, what about those who are wanderers at heart?Well, for all those travel-starved souls, there are some nature and wildlife webinars to keep themselves connected with nature amid the lockdown.
Jasmeen Gill, an engineering student,recentlyattended a webinar on eco-tourism. “The nature series I attended made for an enjoyable experience. Guides took uson a virtual tour, covering destinations across the countries and oceans. There was something for everyone—from wild bears to pandas topristine environment, everything while sitting at home,” said Gill.
