Covid-19 has definitely put a halt on everyone’s life. Punjabi singer Miel, who hails from Nabha, too had to stop shooting for his song in Delhi midway following the government guidelines. Now, he is getting ready to shoot his next single as the lockdown eases out.
Though short, Miel’s song-list has managed to grab eyeballs and millions of views. He says, “I am happy to have spent the lockdown with my friends in Chandigarh that includes Raj Fatehpuria. I worked on various compositions during the quarantine. Artistes from the music industry lent different perspectives to the same thing. Also, if you can look past the creative differences, the end result will always be beyond your imagination. Plus, you get to experiment and produce something with greater shelf life.”
This Rona Sikhade Ve fame singer’s upcoming track is a surprise for his fans for it will be different from his previous sad romantic singles.
Miel prefers quality over quantity. The singer, who debuted with sad romantic songs, says, “For a Punjabi singer, having a few sad songs to his credit is a must. Upbeat, peppy music can be done anytime. That comes naturally to Punjabis. I wanted to take the road less travelled and set myself aside from the herd. And who says we don’t have fun while singing an emotional number?”
As he wanted to be known for his voice and uniqueness as a singer, he did not want the audience to recognise him by his real name, Honey, for the industry already has one (Yo Yo Honey Singh). Interesting Miel, his stage name, in Spanish means Honey.
Ask him how he handles the pressure of releasing a new song and he says, “We cannot predict what might work or not with the audience. Sometimes, you put your blood, sweat and tears in a project and returns are not as expected. So, either it’s a hit or flop, and I prepare my mind to handle whichever way it flows.”
Past Future, his first song, will always remain close to his heart, the singer confesses. Miel wants to sing a cover for Gurdas Maan’s song Sajna Ve Sajna.
