Angad Hasija became a household name with his popular TV show Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai. Last year, the actor made his OTT debut with the web series Ishq Aaj Kal. In a quick chat with us, he talks about his career and his personal life…
How was your experience working in a web series?
I did my first web series Ishq Aaj Kal last year, it was a very good experience and my pairing with Ankitta Sharma was appreciated. Working in a web series was undoubtedly a good experience, but being a television actor I feel that you are not that busy when you are working in a web series.
What kind of work you being offered now?
Whatever show I am being offered now, it requires bedroom scenes and I am not comfortable with that. Some people asked me why I had a problem with lovemaking scenes since I have got nude pictures clicked. People need to understand that getting nude photographs clicked and performing a nude scene are two different things.
Post Waaris, why did you take a break from TV?
I took a break to work on my web series. I have been doing TV for over 15 years and though I enjoy it a lot, as an actor I felt that I should do something different. Doing a web series was a refreshing change. But the plan is to work on TV again because I feel it keeps me busy.
What changes did you notice in the industry over the years?
It has changed a lot! We now have timings, like we shoot from 9 am to 9 pm or like a 12-hour shoot, but earlier we used to just shoot, there was no timing. I can say it has changed for good and bad both. I feel that the shows are not that strong now, content-wise. But at the same time, I feel they have become more realistic.
What does fitness mean to you?
Fitness is very important to me. It’s so important that if I get a show and I am told that I won’t get off-time to go to the gym, then I will leave that show. I am addicted to the gym. I cannot survive without a gym.
How did you manage during the lockdown?
Thankfully, I was in Chandigarh at that time. I had my dumbbells and some of my friends own a gym there, so I got all the gym equipment I needed.
Can you share your lockdown experience?
I reached Chandigarh two days before the lockdown was announced. Because of the lockdown, I got to spend time with my family, and I am very thankful for that. I think this whole phase taught me a lot. It has helped me strengthen my bond with my loved ones.
