‘I love to watch crime shows’
Tell us about your show Atrangi Fireside with Cyrus…
It is basically an informal chat with the cast and crew of various Zee5 shows over Zoom calls. We have had Ajay Devgn, Sabyasachi, the cast of Lal Bazaar, the cast of Rangbaaz and many more on the show so far. Since they are at their homes, the interview has that casual vibe, which makes it more interesting.
How is it like shooting from home?
It was difficult for me to understand how to place the camera and the lights; it took me some time to wrap my head around it. But, I really enjoy it because it gives me something to look forward to in the day.
Do you think OTT platforms have an impact on overall content?
Yes, it has. As a viewer, I am really enjoying the content that is being made in India.
What is your favourite genre?
I love to watch crime shows. For some strange reason, I don’t enjoy comedy that much. Even though I am in the headspace of a comedian the whole day, but I like documentaries and crime-based shows. I like to watch weird stuff.
Talking about the current debate, have you ever faced nepotism?
I personally think nepotism is something that has been gifted to the media for content! My understanding is that nepotism simply means a person choosing his/her family or their favourites over others and that has existed in every field ever since. I have definitely lost work due to nepotism, but that is just the nature of the beast.
In today’s time it is really important to take care of your mental health. How do you keep up with the stress?
I have promised myself to spend an hour every day and regain calmness. I find it difficult to meditate, so I listen to calming chants and take a walk.
What’s next for you in the pipeline?
I am completely focused on Atrangi Fireside with Cyrus at the moment.
