‘I want to be next Ahmed Khan’

Bollywood is known for its dance numbers. So, for any passionate dancer, the ultimate aim is to become a choreographer in the industry. This is exactly what choreographer and trained dancer Prince Gupta did, who was ‘discovered’ after he took part in dance reality show, Dance India Dance.

A contestant of Dance India Dance Season 1, though he did not win the show, his terpsichorean talent and quirky hairstyle won many hearts.

While it is true that he rose to fame because of reality shows, Prince took a conscious break from television and reality shows to fulfil what he actually desired. He says, “I respect the fact that I had shows, but I did not feel that I was growing. As a dancer, I was doing the same thing again and again. Also, I wanted to be taken seriously as a dancer. So, I started choreography and assisted Ahmed sir for many years to learn different aspects of Bollywood style.” Being a part of Remo DSouza’s film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, was the ultimate experience for him. His love for dance speaks as he says, “I practised dance for 10 years. I would want to become best in what I do. I knew I could not be next Shah Rukh Khan but I think I have the capability to become next Saroj Khan or Ahmed Khan of Bollywood. Well, that’s my aim for now. To see my name on the poster of a movie as the choreographer of the film.”

Prince was in Chandigarh for a new song, Zeher Fekti Hai, which stars Shraddha Arya. He says, “It is an upbeat song. I feel that audience will love the song. Chandigarh is a beautiful place to shoot in and I am happy to be here to choreograph the dance sequence.”
