‘I’m nothing like Anita’
As she continues to entertain as Anita Mishra in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, Saumya Tandon gets candid about her journey so far
How has the character of Anita Mishra influenced you off screen?
I have been playing this character since long. I don’t think it has influenced me because we are from very different background and we belong to different set-up. Besides, I don’t have a neighbour like Tiwari ji. The only similarity is that Anita is an independent woman, who runs a family, and so am I.
The show has completed five years recently.
How do you see your journey?
The journey has been quite interesting. I feel it’s the most challenging character for a girl because it’s not that you just have to be a Miss Goody Two-Shoes. There are various shades to this character.
Do you think when actors are part of hit comedy show, fans expect them to be funny in real life too?
Well, people know me from my anchoring days. They do know me as a different person and not just as Anita. So, I don’t face that kind of a problem.
There is a lot of flirting in the show. Do you think it happens among real-life couples?
I don’t think any wife or any husband is going to accept this kind of flirting with a neighbour. This show is not really preaching anything. This is actually seen in a very light and a humorous manner where the husband is eyeing another beautiful woman. I don’t think in real life it happens. I mean, I will not accept or tolerate my husband flirting with any other woman.
How is it working with Rohitashv Gour and Aasif Sheikh?
It’s a great experience to work with Aasif ji and Rohitashv ji. They are senior actors and they are very talented. Rohitashv ji is a gentleman and he’s a very sincere actor, and a very easy person to work with. Aasif ji is a dear friend. We crack jokes, and we have fun on the sets, and I guess that chemistry reflects on screen.
What is your dream role?
There are many. This is just a small part of my journey. I think I am going to work till I live. So, there are various roles which I wish to do.
