Songs in over 10 films and many singles with Rhythm Boyz, Saga Hits, T-Series and Speed Records, but Bir Singh feels there is nothing to flaunt about it. He looks at it as work and believes in simple living. Although his work takes him to countries but between city life and living in his village near Amritsar, he would any day choose the latter.

Define your swag

Being myself is my swag. I idolise no one and don’t pretend to be someone else.

Must-haves in your wardrobe?

Suits. I love wearing blazers, two-piece and three-piece. I have to have them in my wardrobe, no matter what. Even now, I have about 40-50 suits.

A Punjabi celebrity that you find stylish?

Gugu Gill. There is so much to learn from him. He is simple and stylish. Style for me is about one's attitude not what he wears; it is the way you carry yourself. Having worked with him closely, I found he is the same off screen and on screen. Very respectful towards his juniors, always helpful and motivating.

Your latest buy?

An MK watch. This was in December when I was in America.

A person you want to have dinner date with?

Anushka Shankar. She is very expressive with her instrument. She has this emotional flow as if the sitar is a part of her body. Her compositions are so mesmerising.

An exotic place where you want to hang out with your date?

Santorini. The landscapes there, the sunsets, they are so beautiful.

The most bizarre look that you have seen so far?

Hip-hop jeans, where the pockets go up till the knees. The way rappers dress up in hip-hop jeans, it just seems so uncomfortable.

What turns you off?

Rudeness. It is just off putting.

Accessories that you can’t do without?

Sunglasses. I have 12 of them, all Ray Bans. The oldest one I have is 24 years old.

Call for comfort- what would it be?

Kurta pyjama. I am mostly wearing them at home, whenever I am doing things like playing in mud, dancing in the rain. I feel very comfortable in them.

Your fitness includes what all?

Running at least 1 to 2 hours depending on how much time there is and calisthenics.

Any inclination towards sports?

Yes, basketball. I played it during school days. Whenever with school friends, I still play the sport.

Traditional attires that you love?

Long kurtas. Even our forefathers wore it. There is something very nice and traditional about it.

How do you unwind yourself?

Gardening, I do it whenever I can. I have planted all kinds of fruits and flowers.

Your prized possession?

I lost my mom 12 years ago, so that would be her creations in the house, especially the paintings.

If not a singer, then?

Script-writer. Even when I write songs, I first create a story. So, if I wasn’t a singer, I would have been a storywriter.

Street smart vs brand freak?

Some things are just so good you don’t care about the brand. But certain things have a quality when you buy them from a brand. So, a blend of both works for me.

You never leave home without?

Backpack, which has my diaries, laptop, pen, cell phone and some books.

Current favourite attire is?

Active wear. Sporty and comfortable yet so smart.

Your career goals

I don’t have any major goals. If you fix a target, you can’t go beyond it. The idea is to keep moving, you never know what the universe bestows you with. It can surprise you.
