It is not always necessary to go out and buy new stuff to add zing to your wardrobe. You can do that with the existing clothes lying in your closet. Imagination coupled with creativity and some DIY tips, and voila, you are ready with something new to flaunt.
This is what most of the youngsters are doing these days, going sustainable and converting the old into new.
Many creative minds are turning their old pair of jeans into a brand-new attire. From a skirt to a shirt to a bag or just giving a new look to their favourite pair, they are doing it all.
Iknoor Kaur was feeling uncomfortable in her pair of jeans due to the rising temperature but she was done with her pyjamas and wanted to wear something new. She applied her mind and converted her old pair of jeans into a skirt.
“I cut the jeans till the length I required for my skirt. Opened the hems and stitched it in the centre separately and I am ready to chill in my new outfit. This pair of jeans was just lying in my wardrobe. A skirt is more appropriate for this weather,” she says.
The pandemic is making Khushi, a fashion designing student at Pinnacle Institute of Fashion Technology, restless. Her mind is working overtime to create something new.
“I avoid going out, so I thought why not turn my old jeans into a bag? With little DIY tips, a frill, few pearls and a knitted handle, I am ready with my new bag. While going out grocery shopping with mom, this bag comes handy,” smiles Khushi.
Parnamika wanted something new for her next webinar with her teachers.
“I had this pair of basic blue denims, which was my favourite. I styled it into a cropped top and even my teachers were all praise for my innovation. It needed little effort,” says Pranamika, who is also a fashion designing student at the same institute.
Hemlata loves everything about cosmic energy and this is what she has painted on her jeans to give it an entirely new look.
“I love the mysteries that the universe holds. I wrote Galaxy In My Eyes on one of the back pockets and painted planets, stars and a rainbow on my black pair of jeans. And I am ready with my new look,” she says.
