The duo reunited at AFI Fest to premiere the film, where they play struggling musicians who form the band Lightning and Thunder. Directed, written and produced by Craig Brewer, Song Sung Blue is based on Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary of the same name. It tells the real-life story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a couple who performed as a Neil Diamond tribute act while holding on to their shared dream of music and love. Praising Jackman, Hudson said, “It’s hard not to feel magic with Hugh; he’s a magical, sparkly man. His generosity of spirit is wide and large… it’s hard not to fall in love with him.” She recalled their first recording session together, describing it as “fun to find the imperfection”. Song Sung Blue will hit theatres on December 25.
