Celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi is organizing a three-day music festival titled “Ekas Ke Hum Barik”. The event is being held at Tagore Theatre, Sector-18, Chandigarh, from 20th to 22nd November 6.30 pm. The artistes include Bhai Baldeep Singh, Pandit Ajay Pohankar and Neera Grover.
Bhai Baldeep Singh is the 13th generation exponent of Gurbani (sangeet). Being an accomplished musician and kirtaniya, he is also a sensitive interpreter of the needs of a cultural transformation and rejuvenation of cultural values. With this perspective, Bhai baldeep Singh is in the process of developing the Anad Foundation, an institute of arts, aesthetics & culture.
Pandit Ajay Pohankar is an eminent Indian classical vocalist of national and international acclaim, belonging to the Kirana Gharana school of Hindustani classical music. In 2009 Pohankar was awarded the Tansen Samman by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and in 2012, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the highest award for performing artistes.
Neera Grover is a versatile singer, well-known for her proficiency in Khayal-Gayaki and Sugam-Sangeet. Initiated into music by her father Late Panna lal Madan, she has also learned from Pt. Jitendra Kumar and Pt. Yash Paul of Agra Gharana. She also has a distinction of learning under Padmabhushan Ustad Khadim Hussain Khan of Mumbai. As a professor of music, she has taught in various universities across the country. And as a performing artiste Neera Grover has given numerous national and International performances.
