Netflix’s dark comedy, Insatiable, which faced considerable backlash and was accused of promoting fat shaming before it even premiered, has been cancelled by the streaming giant after two seasons. The series followed Patty (Debby Ryan), who for years has been bullied, ignored and underestimated by those around her because of her weight. But now that she finds herself suddenly thin, Patty is out for payback against anyone who has ever made her feel bad about herself.
Season 1 endured a backlash over a month before it premiered in August 2018. In July of that year, a Change.org petitioned gathered over 100,000 signatures demanding that Netflix pull the series. Lauren Gussis created the series and served as executive producer alongside Ryan Seacrest among others.
