Preet Anand

Preet Anand made her film debut with Punjabi comedy Naukar Vahuti Da. Preet talks to us about her career and what it takes to be unique in Pollywood.

You started as a child actor with Sab TV’s show Golmal Hai Bhai Sab Golmal Hai and later did many episodics for different television shows. Has the journey helped you enter Pollywood?

Yes, I started my acting career as a child actor and that has helped me. I have learnt how to make the right choices for my acting career. It helped me with my debut film Naukar Vahuti Da too. What else could be better than getting your debut film with super talented director Smeep Kang?

How was working with director Smeep Kang and actor Gurpreet Ghuggi?

Working with Smeep Kang and sharing screen space with Gurpreet Ghuggi was a dream come true. Smeep is the coolest director I have ever come across. He knows how to extract work from his actors. When it comes to Gurpreet Ghuggi, he never made me feel that this was my first film. He was so supportive on the sets.

How do you rate Smeep Kang, Sukhminder Dhanjal and Avtar Singh as director? Who is your favourite and why?

I just can’t choose any one name out of these three amazing directors because I did my first film with Smeep ji. Sukhminder Dhanjal and Avtar Singh are also dedicated directors and unique in their own way.

What are the factors you look into before selecting a film?

Content is the foundation of any film. So, for me content matters the most.

How easy or difficult has it been to make your space in the Punjabi industry?

Fortunately, I debuted in Pollywood with director Smeep Kang’s film but it didn’t happen overnight. I was scared when I first gave an audition for Naukar Vahuti Da. I thank my producer Rohit Kumar, whose words of encouragement filled me with positivity.

What is the one talent you have which not many people know of?

One can’t hide things from me. God has given me something because I can sense what is happening.

How do you spend your day when you are not shooting?

I start my day by hitting the gym. That is the most important part of my daily routine and I spend my free time doing some dance practice and yes, I cook a lot when I am free. Cooking is something that makes me feel good.

What kind of films would you like to experiment with?

I want to do something emotional because I feel I can do justice to the part. Apart from emotional films I would love to explore the comedy genre.
