Comedian, actor, writer and former host of Saturday Night Live, Norm Macdonald passed away on September 14 after a long battle with cancer. He was 61. Reportedly, Norm fought cancer for almost a decade. The comedian kept his health struggles private, making his death all the more shocking to his fans and colleagues.

Steve Martin tweeted, “We loved Norm Macdonald… One of a kind.” Seth Rogen wrote, “I was a huge fan of his delivery and I essentially ripped off his delivery when I first started acting.” David Letterman, Edgar Wright, Patton Oswalt, Whitney Cummings, Nish Kumar and Nancy Sinatra also expressed grief on Norm’s sudden demise.

Meanwhile, some fans shared clips of their favourite Norm moments on social media, while others praised him as a one-of-a-kind genius.

Norm debuted as a writer on Roseanne in 1992 after making rounds at comedy clubs in Canada. In 1993, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and from 1994 to early 1998, he anchored Weekend Update. He then created The Norm Show.
