This particular trip of Rimi Nique to her ‘own’ Punjab was rather special. Every few meters in Ludhiana, and she could see the billboards with her name splashed, which in her words was ‘magical’. That Ludhiana is her nani’s home, added to the zing. With Naach Meri Jaan from ABCD 2 and her latest, The Chamiya Song, with DJ Bravo to her credit, Rimi, who was brought up in Thailand and now calls Mumbai home, loves the desi vibe.

Song on the loop

It’s like many others’ it’s Lehanga. I am always humming this song, and whenever my friends ask on what I am singing, I tell them, “Bro, you have no idea how big it is in Punjab’.

Your swag

I am that chilled, cool girl, who can be hot and sexy at the same time.

Dressing funda

I am no votary of ‘no pain no gain’ tribe, I wear what I am comfortable in. As a performer, I have to dress as to focus on my singing and presentation. So, easy-breezy my pick.

Traditional take

I love wearing cotton salwar suit when going to gurdwara. They are so comfortable. But I, sometimes, get hassled about how to take the dupatta, inviting my mum’s wrath, ‘Kakh ni aanda kudi nu’.

Punjabi celeb you find stylish

Diljit Dosanjh, not only his attire but also how he comes across, the hard work, sincerity he puts in his work make him really inspiring.

Your latest buy

Wherever I go, I pick up khana only. Clothes are professional requirement, and to be honest I get loads sent by my friends who are stylists. Food is special, from this trip I am taking pinnis.

Punjabi connect

My mother is from Ludhiana. I love everything Punjabi. But trust me each trip (I make frequent ones), I end up gaining 2 kg. This time around I was wondering ‘saag main makhkhan hai ya makkhkhan main saag’. Punjab makes it very hard to stick to my diet regimen.

Celeb you would like to go on a date with

Shah Rukh Khan. Growing up in Thailand, SRK was synonymous with Bollywood. And he is only person I got star-stuck with. I met him once and I was all awkward, trust me that’s not who I am. So yes, I would love to have to chance to see him.

Where would you like this date to be?

Anywhere is okay in SRK’s company. He’s a charmer when he speaks. I wouldn’t mind a beach view though.

What turns you off?

People, who are negative. I don’t go with pessimists’ point of view. Full right to people holding it, but I don’t want get into that energy.

Fitness means to you

To stay active and eat clean. I watch what I eat very carefully (except when in Punjab) and exercise 30 minutes a day. I don’t put too much pressure on me; just stay active through the day.

If not singing

Acting, dancing may be. Something in the creative field, I dabbled in all three at one point or another.

Looking ahead

Yes, we all love dancing numbers that I would continue to do but also do something that has heart and soul.
