Chhapaak

It is the powerful real-life story of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal portrayed by Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak. Alongside Deepika, the cast is supported by Vikrant Massey, Madhurjeet Sarghi and Rohit Sukhmani. The trials and triumphs of Malti (name of Deepika’s character), from the investigation of the attack to the court proceedings, the medical treatment to the emotional healing, the movie has covered it all. This women-centric biopic is helmed by none other than director Meghna Gulzar.

Emotional tale

As much as it is a reality and happens on a daily basis in India, it was equally emotional a tale to see in theatres. I felt the pain of Malti and I hope more and more people watch this movie to understand what it takes to come out of the trauma of being scarred for life.

Gifted actor

Deepika’s transformation to Malti was very natural. I think more movies like this should be made to bring about a change in the mentality of youngsters, especially men.

Shocking climax

Despite the ban on the selling of acid, the attacks have only increased and this fact was very hard to digest in the end. Deepika impressed everyone with her flawless portrayal of real-life hero Laxmi Aggarwal.

Reality check

The fact that the movie does not end on a happy note makes it even closer to the real–life scenario. It gave us the reality check and something that as audience we need to take back home. Meghna has done a commendable effort in bringing forward a story that inspires not one but all.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior

Ajay Devgn and Kajol reunite on-screen after more than a decade for the movie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The film releasing in 3D, stars Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Jagapathi Babu, Pankaj Tripathi and Sharad Kelkar. Luke Kenny and Neha Sharma are in pivotal roles in this biographical period action film. It is set in the 17th century and is based on the life of Tanhaji Malusare who was the military leader of King Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire. Saif Ali Khan plays the antagonist Udaybhan Rathod who attacked the hill fort of Kondhana during Chhatrapati Shivaji’s rule.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior

Lesson from history

I feel it justifies its title, that of ‘an unsung warrior’ because I never knew about his heroic tale until I watched the movie. It is a good thing that historical anecdotes are being transformed into movies to make them more interesting for the younger generation.

Saif is the star

I loved Saif’s character in the movie. He was the hero of the film though he played the antagonist. Ajay was good as always but Saif stole the show for me.
