Director KR Sachidanandan, who was popularly known as Sachy, passed away on Thursday. He was 48. Sachy was reportedly on ventilator after he suffered a heart attack while undergoing a hip replacement surgery at a private hospital in Thrissur. The news of his demise broke when actor and producer Nivin Pauly tweeted, “Shocked to hear the sudden demise of Sachyettan. Indeed a big loss to Malayalam cinema. May his soul rest in peace!”John Abraham tweeted, “Shattered to lose such a talent. Rest In Peace my friend. #RIP #Sachy.”

Sachy was known for directing Prithviraj Sukumaran’s superhit movie Ayyappanum Koshiyum. He had entered the Malayalam film industry as a screenwriter and later took to direction. He made his directorial debut in 2015 with Anarkali.
