Currently seen in Star Plus’ show Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua, Ishaan Singh Manhas shared his thoughts on how TV has evolved and its enduring impact.

“Television has always been a powerful medium to shape and reflect societal values. It doesn’t just entertain; it educates and connects people. Through relatable stories and diverse characters, TV has sparked conversations and influenced public opinion, encouraging awareness on issues like gender equality, mental health, and social justice,” he says.

For Ishaan, television remains a powerful medium of storytelling. “TV allows for long-form narratives, giving room to explore characters and relationships deeply,” he adds. On the rise of streaming platforms, he says. “Streaming platforms have opened new avenues for actors with bold narratives and unconventional characters.”

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
