Why did you make a comeback?

There is a certain ease as I get to have my same room and my on-screen son Rama. It gives me immense pleasure to be back on the show that has done so well and to know that I was among those members who started this show.

The show has been running for almost two-and-a-half-years now. Is this a big achievement?

For a show like Tenali Rama to run for so long is a really big achievement and we thank the viewers for showing so much love to the characters and the show.

How is it working with the new cast?

I am glad that Rama is the same because we both have a level of comfort and chemistry with each other. I do not usually have my shoots with the rest of actors but they are all very warm and friendly. The director is new but he trusted me with the character because I have lived the character previously.

Tell us about your role…

I play the character, Amma. She is mute and I have to convey things only through my actions. For this, it was important to coordinate well with Sharda and it was a challenge that our viewers accepted so nicely.

Do you believe that actors have to promote themselves through social media to survive in the industry?

Promotions are the need of the hour. You have to promote your show to make viewers aware of it. One thing is clear. I would never over-promote myself. I am very ambitious when it comes to my craft. I am someone, who allows the other actors to go ahead in the race.

How do you select your shows?

The script is the major criteria and so is the production house. The role has to be interesting. But it is the overall package that interests me.

Your husband, Nitin Vakharia is also an actor. How is your professional bond with him?

We have worked together in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby as on-screen couple. When we are working, there is nothing personal. We both are dedicated. On the personal front, we have two children and share excellent bonding with each other.
