It’s a love triangle, where the hero is forced to marry a girl against his wishes. Right, so what’s new? Isn’t the idiot box replete with dramas based around the same premise? Yet, Colors’ show Mishri, which took off earlier this month, has something fresh to offer. For one, the sizzling chemistry between the lead stars —Namish Taneja as Raghav and Meghna Chakraborty as Vaani. Another, the performance of young star Shruti Bhisht, who essays the role of Mishri.

Shruti Bhisht

Set in the holy city of Mathura, the plot revolves around the pleasant presence of Mishri who brings happiness and fortune to others, while struggling with her own set of misfortunes. Hailing from Garhwal, young artiste Shruti Bhist, who essays the role of Mishri, has worked in the famous OTT show Family Man, and is well-known for her characters in television shows like Baal Veer, Ek Nayi Choti Si Zindagi and Hitler Didi. She says, “There are a lot of similarities between my real-life persona and the character of Mishri. Like her, I do not like confrontations and avoid unnecessary arguments, yet I speak my mind and make sure that my opinion is heard. Also, both are really hard working and have been through the grind. So, this similarity helped me essay the role with relative comfort. Shooting the show in Mathura was a whole new experience and a memory for a lifetime.”

Namish Taneja, who has been a part of the television industry from a very young age and seen in shows like Swaragini, Ikyawann, Vidya, Main Maike Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo, among others, has earned a name through his versatile performances. About this show, he says, “The story of Mishri is what attracted me and the most interesting part was that we were actually made to go to Mathura to understand the lifestyle of the people there! I always try to improve my performance with each project and had a great time essaying this role. Meghna and I have been in this industry for some time and share a great bond, whereas Shruti reminds me of times when I started my career. We all are having great fun shooting for this show.”

Meghna Chakraborty agrees, “Indeed the vibe on the sets is amazing. We are all giving it our best and hope the audiences like our characters.” Having started her career with Bengali show Joto Hashi Tato Ranna, she next bagged the protagonist’s role in the film Desert Tears, which portrayed persecution of women in rural India. Meghna, whose Hindi credits include Badi Devrani, Imlie, Krishna Chali London, and others, adds, “It’s not just a love triangle, but much beyond that. All three of us essay characters that are based on family values. The sisterhood of Vaani and Mishri will be really fun to watch. Also, Mathura was amazing to explore.”

This young brigade is sure out to prove a point!
