What they saw

Nine young artists shared their experiences along with visuals about the prestigious Serendipity Arts Festival-2019 during an audio-visual presentation, titled Observations, and an interactive session held at the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi.

These nine artists, selected from various places in Punjab and Chandigarh, were given the national travel grant with an amount of Rs 15,000 each by the Akademi to visit Serendipity Arts Festival, which was held at Goa.

The students gave a kaleidoscopic view of the prestigious festival by showing the most amazing artworks as well as the other features, details and aspects of the festival. They talked about new mediums they came across at the fest such as interactive installations, site-specific works, multimedia works and technologically infused works.

The subject matter included personal narratives, identity crisis, environmental degradation, socio-political concerns, satires, or even global issues such as food adulteration. Some of the projects at the festival also threw light on the historical and cultural aspects where an attempt was made to amalgamate the old with the contemporary. Besides visual artworks, other disciplines such as performing arts where they witnessed an innovative fusion of different cultures also fascinated them. They also talked about the organisation, management skills as well as the curatorship of the festival.—TNS
