Kangana Ranaut doesn’t ‘view’ the binge-watching trend quite favourably. She feels, “As if there is some sort of competition between people as to who’s watched what.” Well, for the viewers there’s no competition but a compulsion, “One more episode.” And then of course there’s a competition, who’s watched what on maximum platforms in minimum time. When before did the viewers have complete control and the makers’ complete freedom? The twain met and amidst extended lockdown, we ask those in the entertainment world to toss a few more names from the web of series (err… web series).

Some lost gems

Popular Indian singer Shipra Goyal, it seems, has not got the time to catch up with some great and popular series, the ones that take us right back to the good old golden days of television.

Currently watching: Suits.

I recommend: I think Special Ops on Hotstar is really good and I also recommend watching Suits, as that series has a lot of information that everybody can benefit from.

Binge-watched: I finished watching Special Ops in one night because it had only eight episodes.

Racy thrillers

Punjabi film actor Sawan Rupowali, seen in National Award-winning Harjeeta, shuttles genres as and when the mood strikes, rather than what’s new in the list or what’s trending.

Currently watching: Lucifer; it’s a mystical story, each devil has a good side, solves cases along with a detective. It’s interesting.

I recommend: Lost in Space. It completely changes one’s point of view regarding our planet Earth. Moreover, the relations with family members are very well presented.

I binge-watched: The I-Land; based on lost identities, how the characters get back to life by doing good; it’s very interesting.

Mythology to crime

TV actor Tarun Khanna, who had been shooting for Devi Aadi Parashakti, aired on Dangal TV, didn’t get a chance to catch up on the series to do with his favourite genre i.e. mythology. Which is why what he just finished watching is something he’ll recommend to everyone.

Just finished: Chandragupta Maurya. I don’t think you can find a series better than that in India.

I recommend: I would also recommend everyone to watch Sherlock Holmes by Benedict Cumberbatch.

I binge-watched: Designated Survivor; it is one show I not just binge- watched but saw in one go too.

Carry on watching

TV actor Aparna Dixit, currently seen in Pyaar ki Luka Chuppi, has been on both sides of the online streaming platforms. As an actor of the web series Unafraid, helmed by Vikram Bhatt, and as a viewer who binge-watches quite often. While she is really looking forward to the second season of Asur, in the meanwhile, she has a few suggestions.

Currently watching: I am currently hooked on to the latest season of The Last Kingdom on Netflix.

I binge-watched: Asur and Special Ops. Both these series have an amazing star-cast and story-telling. I would also recommend these two series to everyone.
