Taking care
ArmaanKohli’s four-year-old Shih Tzu, Donut, is happy, “Till some time ago, I had been taking him out for a walk and would duly clean his paws with disinfectant.” But for a few days now, Donut isn’t going for walks, but is still comfortable. “This breed sleeps like 20-22 hours a day, but in his waking hours he is happy playing with everyone and noticing that no one is leaving him anymore.”Armaan is taking as good care of the strays too. “They come to the gate at their regular meal times- difference between Donut and them is just that they are outside the gate while he is inside.”
Ishwita has three pets at home, two pugs – Taz and Casper – and one adopted ‘desi’Miffy. “Lockdown has made all of them learn how to use the loo at home. They do go out like once a day butonly near the house.” It’s Miffy who seems the most comfortable with the new arrangement. “Missy follows my brother like a shadow, whether he’s working out or whatever, she patiently sits around, happy to be in company.”
Wonderful company
Fluffy is a seven-year-old Labrador, who refuses to leave the side of his master MitulDikshit. “It’s for the first time in seven years that we have bonded this well.” Fluffy givesMitulcompanyin whatever he does. “I have taken to cooking and Fluffy is my partner;he sits patientlywhile I cook.” Also now that Fluffy has taken Mitul’s routine, he is having three meals instead of his regular two. “Like it or not, he shows up at the dining table to join me for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and I can’t say no.” From sharing short walks to bed, they are inseparable. “I worry, when it all opens up, how would he take the change, seeing that he’s so attached; I am guessing I have to take him along everywhere, maybe he could be the mascot of the school or something,” laughsMitul, chairperson of Dikshant schools.
In the West
