Ludhiana: Gill GSSSS girls win baseball tourney

Ludhiana, July 29
Hosts Government Senior Secondary Smart School (GSSSS), Gill, beat Guru Nanak International Public School (GNIPS), Model Town, to romp home champions in the girls’ section in the 11th Sub-Junior District Ludhiana Baseball Tournament that concluded at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School ground, Gill village, near here on Sunday.
In the final, GSSSS players proved too good for their opponents whom they drubbed 13-3 to lift the winners’ trophy.
In the match for the third place, Gill Baseball Club warded off stiff challenge from Ramgarhia Baseball Club before stitching the matter 2-0. Sapna and Sehajdeep Kaur scored one run each to help their script the victory.
Harbir Singh Hill, honorary secretary, Punjab Baseball Association, said on the basis of their performance, Ludhiana boys’ and girls’ teams would be finalised for the 11th Sub-Junior Punjab State Baseball Championship to be held from August 8 to 10 at the same venue.
