This merit-cum-means-based scholarship programme aims to support deserving students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, with a focus on girl students, pursuing undergraduate and integrated programmes in engineering (BTech, BE, BSC), computer sciences, medical (MBBS, BDS, BPT, nursing, paramedics), and commerce (BBA, BCom) in select colleges/universities of Ludhiana. This will be applicable to students eligible for admissions in August 2025.
Starting this year with 100 students, the programme is designed to scale up incrementally with its successful implementation through each cohort. The ambition is to expand its reach to 400 scholars with an outlay of Rs 4 crore per year as the programme reaches its peak.
It will be available to students with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 5 lakh. Beyond merit, the scholarship empowers girl students, persons with disabilities (PWD), orphans, children from single-parent families and athletes (state, regional, national and international levels).
The recipients of this scholarship will be known as ‘Satya Scholars’. They will receive 100 per cent of their college fee throughout the duration of their course. Upon successful graduation and subsequent gainful employment, ‘Satya Scholars’ will be encouraged to support at least one student at the school or college level on a continuous basis, voluntarily.
While announcing the initiative, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, president of the trust, said, “As we commemorate the 33rd death anniversary of our visionary, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Satya Scholarship Programme. This pioneering initiative embodies our commitment to empowering students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, particularly girl students, persons with disabilities, and those from marginalised communities, to achieve academic excellence and pursue their dreams.”
“Our endeavour is to equip the Ludhiana youth with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in an ever-changing technological world while fostering a culture of giving back,” said Mittal.
