135 attend Kisan Club camp

In a major push towards crop diversification, the agricultural experts of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) made a call for a swift shift from wheat-paddy cycle to fruits and vegetables and other crops to double their farm income and to bring in long-term agri-sustainability.

During the monthly training camp of the PAU kisan club today, experts Dr TPS Singh of seed, Dr Navjot Singh Brar of vegetable science, Dr Jaswinder Brar of fruit science and Dr Gulzar Singh Sanghera, Director, Regional Research Station, Kapurthala, explained seed production of cereal crops, successful cultivation of potatoes, planning and plantation of fruit trees and sugarcane cultivation, respectively.

As many as 135 farmers participated in the training, held under the aegis of Dr TS Riar, and Dr Kuldeep Singh.
