15 NCC cadets receive drone training
A five-day drone training was imparted to 15 cadets and five training staff of 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, Ludhiana, including permanent instructors, associate NCC officer and cadet instructors from May 19 to 23 by a training team at National Skill Training Institute, Ludhiana.
The training was part of a contemporary training and skill development initiative, based on directions of the Director General of National Cadet Corps Lt Gen Gurbir Pal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM. The drone training, as part of NCC curriculum, has been aligned with the Prime Minister’s national aim of skill development.
The training for the first batch comprised of introductory sessions covering fundamental electrical concept to make the cadets understand the operation of drones. They were also introduced to the ecosystem of drones in government bodies, private companies and end users.
The cadets were also introduced to the mission planner software for configuring and managing autonomous drive flights sessions on camera and LIDAR interfacing for aerial mapping and date collection.
The last two days of the training were dedicated to live drone flying and maintenance to ensure long-term performance.
