The crime wing of the Police Commissionerate today claimed to have busted a gang of mobile thieves and arrested three of its members. The police also recovered 17 mobiles from the suspects.
They have been identified as Rahul Kumar, alias Gunga (25) of Kabir Basti, Deepak Kumar (35) of Abdulapur Basti and Kamal Diwakar.
ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brar stated that the police had received a tip-off that Rahul and Deepak were running a gang of mobile thieves and they had stolen several mobiles in the recent past. After getting a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and nabbed them.
Brar said during questioning of the two suspects, role of Kamal, who runs a mobile repair shop at Abdulapur Basti, also came to the fore as he used to buy stolen mobiles from them. Following which, he was also apprehended. Now, police remand of the miscreants would be sought from court. The police would also verify whether the mobile repair shop owner had been buying stolen items from other thieves or not.
A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered against the miscreants.
