Ludhiana, August 14

The Moti Nagar police station today claimed to have arrested two criminals and recovered stolen/looted valuables from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh, a resident of Parbhat Nagar and Lalit of Sewak Nagar.

Station House Officer Moti Nagar Inspector Varinderpal Singh said recently two snatchers had looted Rs 2,700 from Ram Jatan Sharma and in this regard, a case was registered against the unknown snatchers on August 11.

The SHO added that when police started probe in the case, abovesaid two snatchers were identified. Today acting on the secret information, the police party conducted a raid and nabbed the accused. The police also recovered a scooter, two sharp weapons, Rs 1200 cash, four stolen motorcycles. Apart from committing snatchings, accused had also been stealing vehicles.

The SHO said both the accused have a notorious past as Mandeep is facing a snatching case registered against him at police division 6 last year while Lalit is facing an Arms Act case registered against him at Police Division 5 this year. Both after coming out on bail, again started snatching and theft.

The police would conduct further questioning of the accused to inquire about other vehicle theft cases.
