200 govt school heads trained in child rights

About 200 heads of government schools in the region were sensitised about the special rights and privileges of students enrolled at their institutions.

District Education Officer Baljinder Kaur, Block Primary Education Officer Baljit Singh, BPO Sohan Singh, District Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur Sandhu and Mohammad Rashid chaired various sessions during a four-day training programme held at Loha Bazar, Malerkotla.

Convener of the programme Mubeen Qureishy said a comprehensive training initiative had been launched by the District Child Protection Office to sensitise school authorities about implementing the guidelines of various laws and Acts regarding child safety.

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Labour Act and Right to Education Act were discussed, along with preparation of Aadhaar cards, medical certificates and domicile certificates.
