21 underage drivers challaned

As the deadline of making awareness regarding the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, which was supposed to be implemented from August 1, ended on August 20, the Ludhiana traffic police today carried out a drive and acted strictly against underage drivers.
As many as 21 underage drivers were challaned today by the traffic police. Special nakas were set up by traffic police at various strategic points in the city. Traffic police officials said they drive would continue in the coming days and underage drivers would not be spared.
Notably, the traffic police had also clarified that students using battery-operated vehicles did not require a driving licence and after obtaining permission from the RTA, they could go to schools. But if they drive carelessly, action would be taken against them.
