25 get training in processing, value addition of millets
The Department of Processing and Food Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a one-day training programme, ‘Processing and Value Addition of Millets’ for farmers and small entrepreneurs. About 25 participants received thorough theoretical tutorials and hands-on training.
Dr S Sharma discussed the importance of processing millets for providing necessary nutrients. Dr Gurveer Kaur explained techniques involved in farm-level operations in primary and secondary processing, while Dr Sandhya showed millet processing machinery for cleaning, dehusking and polishing of millets and provided hands-on training.
Dr Jagbir Rehal gave a demonstration in preparation of different value added products from various millet flours. The participants showed keen interest in various activities during the training course. PAU literature was also distributed among the trainees free of cost.
