270 women farmers take part in skill development programme

Ludhiana, August 2
The Skill Development Centre, Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a monthly one-day training programme for the PAU Kisan Club (ladies wing) in the adopted village Dhurkot, Ludhiana.
Organised under the guidance of Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, the event witnessed participation from 270 women farmers. Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development) and coordinator of the Kisan Club (ladies wing), highlighted the essential role of the Skill Development Centre in empowering rural women farmers to become self-reliant. She shared information about various kisan melas to be held at different locations by the PAU in September.
Manmeet Brar Bhullar, Head of Department (Entomology), attended the event as the chief guest. In her address, she emphasised the unique initiatives of the Skill Development Centre and exhorted women farmers to participate in various training courses offered by the centre.
Jaswinder Kaur Brar, adjunct professor at PAU, spoke about the importance of a healthy diet during the monsoon season. Sukhraj Kaur and Gurwinder Kaur, members of the PAU Kisan Club (ladies wing), shared their expertise in making raw mango jam and cake.
The club members celebrated the festival of Teej with enthusiasm. The women applied mehndi and adorned themselves with phulkari and bangles. They performed traditional songs and dances, making the occasion memorable.
