The Ludhiana police have nabbed four persons who allegedly extorted Rs 65 lakh and also forcibly took possession of property documents from a retired PSPCL employee. The accused allegedly threatened to make an objectionable video of the victim viral on social media and extorted the amount from him.

The accused have been identified as Satinder Singh, alias Sonu, Ram Singh Thapar, Michel Thapa and Daler Singh. The victim identified as Jagdish Kumar Negi is a retired PSPCL employee.

Additional DCP Prabhjot Singh Virk said Rs 65 lakh was extorted from the victim by threatening to make an objectionable video of him viral on social media. The accused also took property documents and seven blank cheques from the victim.

The ADCP added that the police have freezed the bank account of Satinder and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh, one XUV and three mobile phones from the accused. Now, raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining accused.

The police said the accused had forced the victim to have physical relations with a woman and recorded a video of him in order to extort money. The matter came to light when victim got retired from the PSPCL and the family found that most GPF funds were withdrawn by him and given to the accused. After investigation into the case, the police registered a case in November.
