440 gm heroin, illicit liquor seized in separate incidents, five nabbed

Despite cracking a whip against drug peddlers, drugs continue to be seized on a daily basis in Ludhiana. It raises the question over the easy availability of synthetic drugs, illicit liquor and other drugs, which were ruining the youth of the state.
In the past 24 hours, the police seized 110 gm and 330 gm of heroin from four persons in two separate incidents. Besides, 12 bottles of liquor were seized in another incident by the police.
The Shimlapuri police have arrested three persons, Karry Sabharwal, alias Gobi, a resident of Moti Nagar, Jasanpreet Singh, alias Ladi, a resident of Lohara, and Amarpreet Singh, alias Gugli, of Daba and seized 330 gm of heroin from them. The police were patrolling in Guru Gobind Nagar when the trio were spotted on the road. The police got suspicious and started checking them. A black handbag was seized from the youths in which the drug was kept. The police also recovered a motorcycle from the youths. A case has been registered.
In the other incident, the Sadar police have arrested Ramandeep Singh of Gurbachan Nagar, Daba, and seized 110 gm of heroin which was kept in 20 small packets, an electronic weighing scale and a car. When the police were patrolling at Gill Chowk, a car coming from the Ishar Nagar pulley was stopped for checking. The police seized the drug and arrested the man. A case under
the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered.
In the third incident, Police Division Number 2 has recovered 12 bottles of illicit liquor from Inderjit Singh, a resident of Chowni Mohalla. On getting a tip-off that illicit liquor was smuggled and sold by the suspect, the police were deployed near a hospital. The suspect was nabbed from the rear of the hospital, along with the liquor bottles. He is sent on a police remand.
