5 kg of banned plastic carry bags seized, challans issued

Tightening noose around violators, Municipal Corporation (MC) teams confiscated 5 kg of banned plastic carry bags and seven cartons of single-use plastic items on Wednesday.

Further, health branch teams of the civic body also served sealing notices to 13 meat shop owners over illegal slaughtering. The shops are situated on the Dugri road, Pakhowal road and in adjoining areas.

Working on the directions of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal and Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, the team comprising sanitary inspectors, including Nathi Ram, Satpal, Yogesh, Satinderjit, Harvinder Singh among others, took action against the violators.

After confiscating the banned plastic carry bags and other items from the shops, challans were also issued to the shopkeepers.

The health branch officials said sealing notices had been served to owners of 13 meat shops and if they fail to stop illegal slaughtering, their shops would be sealed in coming days. The drive against use of banned plastic carry bags and single-use plastic items would also continue in coming days.
