A group of 65 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the College of Home Science, Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai, who specialise in Food Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Processing and Preservation, and Applied Nutrition and Dietetics, visited Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. The visiting students engaged in insightful discussions with the PAU students and faculty members. The faculty of the Department of Food and Nutrition shared their ongoing research projects, innovative product developments and community outreach initiatives. The visiting faculty members and students also exchanged their ideas and experiences. The students had the opportunity to visit the experiential learning unit of bakery and health foods in the department. They observed the production and sale of functional bakery products, innovative health foods and value added food items. The group also visited Food Business Incubation Centre at the Department of Food Science and Technology, where they were given practical knowledge about the entrepreneurial aspects of food processing and business incubation support available for startups in the food industry.
The visit concluded with a visit to the Museum of Social History of Rural Punjab, where students explored exhibits showcasing the state’s cultural and heritage.
