7 months after clash over land dispute, police register cross-case, arrest two
After a clash was reported between two parties over the possession of prime land at Bhola colony, Tajpur road in February this year and an FIR on the charge of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act was registered at Police Division-7 against one party, now almost seven months after, the Ludhiana police have registered a cross-case against the opposite party under similar charges and also arrested the two accused.
The accused booked in the cross-case were identified as Jaskiranjit Singh Gill, Amarpreet Singh, Balwinder Singh (security guard), Sunil Kumar, Jaspreet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Arjun Ram (security guard). Sunil and Balwinder were arrested while raids were being conducted by the police to nab the remaining accused.
It is pertinent to mention here that on February 21 this year, several rounds were fired during a clash over a land dispute. Then a case was registered against Parminder Singh Bajwa and his five accomplices.
Parminder Bajwa who now got a cross-case registered against the accused from the opposite party said that he had gone to see the land of which he had legal ownership. But when he along with some persons reached there and parked his car on the land, the opposite party arrived and fired several rounds to intimidate them. He said they had to run for cover to save themselves. Fortunately, they didn’t suffer injuries. However, police had then registered a case against him and his men but the opposite party fired to usurp his land.
“After I was sent to jail in the case, I sent a letter to the DGP, Punjab, from jail as the police performed one-sided action and the opposite party who were actually carrying weapons and fired shots at the land, were spared from action. From the DGP office, my letter reached the office of Police Commissioner, Ludhiana, where after an inquiry, a cross-case was registered against Jaskiranjit and his aides. The booked accused in the cross-case also have a criminal record as five FIRs were already registered against them in the past,” claimed Bajwa.
A three-day police remand of the accused was procured from court.
