71 players compete in handball selection trials

A total of 71 players (women), from across the state, attended selection trials conducted by the Punjab Handball Association (PHA) under the aegis of the Punjab Olympic Association (POA) at the Government Senior Secondary Smart School ground, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), here on Sunday.

Sukhbir Singh, general secretary, PHA, said the selection committee watched these aspirants during the trials and shortlisted 25 players. The list of the selected players was forwarded to the POA, he said.

These players would attend a preparatory camp after confirmation from the POA. The state’s team for the 38th Senior National Handball Championship, slated to be held in Uttarakhand, would be finalised from among these campers, said Sukhbir Singh.
