The district administration has been ensuring a smooth and hassle-free wheat procurement season by making sure the produce brought to the grain market by famers is purchased and lifted in a timely manner, said Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday, adding that the state government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann and the district administration were firmly committed to completing the whole process, from procurement to lifting and payments, without inconveniencing farmers or commission agents.

He said that along with immediate procurement of the grains, thrust had also been laid on timely lifting. He said a total of 7,455.50 MTs of wheat had arrived in the mandis since the procurement season began and nearly 558.4 per cent lifting had been ensured by the officials within 72-hours. He said payments worth Rs 5.372 crore had also been made to the farmers.

DC Himanshu Jain asked all the sub divisional magistrates (SDMs) to personally visit the grain markets in their respective areas on a daily basis to oversee the entire operations.
