Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Dakha, Varinder Singh Khosa, and Dakha SHO Hamraj Singh addressed a press conference in this regard on Saturday.

On October 8, Resham Singh, a resident of Atla Kalan, Mansa, and manager at Swatantra Micro Finance Private Limited, Mandi Ahmedgarh branch, told the police that his employee Jaspreet Singh, who goes to villages to collect the company’s money, told him that he was looted by bike-borne persons.

“Jaspreet called me and said when he was on the way from Baddowal to Lalton on a motorcycle, four persons came from the Baddowal side on a motorcycle. They surrounded him and looted the company’s money bag containing Rs 90,828 by pointing a sharp weapon at him. I also reached the scene,” he said.

Resham said Jaspreet had also called 112 police helpline number and informed about the loot incident. In fact, he was also a complainant in the case.

The DSP said manager Resham had expressed suspicion that Jaspreet, along with his accomplice, might have cooked a story of loot of Rs 90,828 with the intention of embezzling company funds. As a result, the case was registered under various sections of the BNS and a probe was launched.

He said during investigation, the police took action and arrested Jaspreet and his aide Parvinder Singh and recovered Rs 85,200 from them. They also confessed to having cooked the loot story. The suspects were being questioned about other incidents committed by them in the past, if any. A raid was also being conducted to nab Khujjal, their accomplice.
