It will come up inside the District Administrative Complex (DAC) under the Centre’s ‘One District One Product’ initiative aimed at helping the MSMEs and the SHGs, besides promoting the ‘Make in India’ products.

Giving a formal nod to open the outlet, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal directed district officials to identify a suitable location within the DAC for establishing a kiosk, dedicated to the promotion, display, and sale of products from the MSMEs and the SHGs under the ‘One District One Product’ initiative.

Accompanied by ADC (Rural Development) Amarjit Bains and CM’s Field Officer Kritika Goyal, the Deputy Commissioner said the outlet would be set up under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance programme.

“The project aims to enhance the implementation capacity and outreach of MSMEs by promoting innovation, encouraging new ideas, improving practices and processes, enhancing market access, supporting green initiatives and increasing guarantees for women-owned micro and small enterprises,” he said.

He also mentioned that products created by artisans would be included in kiosk’s offerings.

Jorwal also approved the allocation of Rs 15 lakh fund for establishing the kiosk, which will subsequently be leased to a private operator.

He instructed officials from the Industries and Commerce (I&C) Department to also compile a directory of the products offered by the MSMEs and the SHGs and to hold meetings with these groups regarding the kiosk’s launch, ensuring they could utilise the platform for showcasing and sale of their products.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the officials to do the needful to set up the outlet at the earliest.
