Bagging seven out of the 11 seats that were up for the grabs, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swept the civic body elections in Malaudh on Saturday. Congress had to be content with two seats, while two independents also won.

Barring some incidents of mild arguments between supporters of the AAP’s candidates and those between Congress and BJP supporters, polling carried on here peacefully till late in the evening.

AAP legislator Manwinder Singh Giaspura, former Congress MLA Lakhwinder Singh Giaspura, and chairman of the education cell of BJP Sanjiv Maudgil remained busy in boosting candidates of their respective political parties.
