Dr Manjeet Singh, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, visited Taiwan to attend and present during the 11th Asian-Australasian Conference on “Precision Agriculture (ACPA 11),” organised by the National Chiayi University, Taiwan, this month. He was invited by the Department of biomechatronic engineering, National Chiayi University, Taiwan, as a keynote speaker. He delivered a lecture on “Status and potential of digital agriculture in India”. Delegates from 16 countries participated in the conference. During the event, he also chaired a technical session on “Agro mechatronics automation and robotics.
During the conference, a technical tour was also planned to Symon’s Agricultural Biotech Co Ltd at the Taiwan Orchid Plantation Park, Tainan, Southern Taiwan, where technology is realised by the integration of vertical farming facilities, automatic irrigation system, automated storage and retrieval system, IoT environmental control system and energy saving system. A green house of 16,000 square meters accommodates the plantation and production and guarantees an annual productivity of 1.5 million stems.
The next Asian-Australasian Conference on “Precision Agriculture” will be organised in Kobe, Japan.
