Agri varsity holds food safety training session
The Department of Food Science and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), successfully organised a FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) advanced training session for BSc (Hons) food technology students from DAV College, Jalandhar.
The one-day training, held on March 20, was part of the PAU’s ongoing efforts as an empanelled partner of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to promote food safety awareness and regulatory compliance. The training aimed to equip aspiring food technologists with essential knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and legal frameworks, critical for roles in the food processing industry, quality assurance and entrepreneurship.
Dr Vikas Kumar, an authorised FoSTaC trainer and expert in food safety and quality, led the session. He provided participants with hands-on insights into modern food safety management systems, hygiene protocols and quality control standards.
Dr Savita Sharma, head of the department, emphasised the growing importance of food safety certification for young graduates.
